Special Events:

American Red Cross Lifeguard Training

Teaches participants the knowledge and skills needed to prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies. The course content and activities prepare participants to recognize and respond quickly and effectively to emergencies and prevent drowning and injuries. Prerequisites: Minimum age of 15. Swim 300 yards continuously. Starting in the water, swim 20 yards using front crawl or breaststroke, surface dive 7-10 ft, retrieve a 10 pd object, return to the surface, swim 20 yards back to the starting point with the object and exit the water without using a ladder or steps within 1min 40sec. Does not include LG Book.

American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor Training

Trains lifeguards to teach the Lifeguard Training course. Prerequisites: Minimum age of 18, must be a current lifeguard, must challenge out skill of basic lifeguard training class as well as pass the basic lifeguard training written test by 80% or better.

American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor

Train instructor candidates to teach water safety, including the Basic Water Rescue course, six levels of the Learn to Swim and Parent and Child Aquatics.

Junior Guard (Registration Form)

3 hours 30 Minutes

Designed for youth ages 10-14, American Red Cross Junior Guard provides a foundation of
life guarding and life skills. The Junior Guard program focuses on five key areas; prevention
of aquatic accidents, fitness and swimming skills, response in an emergency, leadership skills
and professionalism of a lifeguard. Participants will attend a classroom session, then have the
opportunity to work hand in hand with our lifeguards. All participants will receive a shirt, hat and
materials

 

Cost: $125.00 (Includes two week class and summer individual pass)

Wilderness Survival Camp

Here is a week long camp for those who are just getting into
outdoor survival. Our days will be filled with hands-on activities
to better equip our students for living in the woods, whether
for short or long term. Skills covered will include: basic shelter
construction (debris hut and lean-to), locating and purifying
water, lighting a campfire with one match, fire by friction (bow and hand drill methods), making proper
fire structures, hunting and trapping methods, edible and medicinal wild plants, rope making, tool
making (using wood, stone and bone) and much more! A small daily snack will be available and all
materials are included in the price

45 minutes

Level I - Participants start by getting familiar with the water. They practice entering and exiting the
water, learning to float on their front and back, opening eyes under the water as well as exploring
underwater.

Level II - Participants learn to tread water, glide on their front and back, explore swimming on
their sides, swimming on front and back using combined strokes, as well as rhythmic breathing.

Level III - Participants learn rotary breathing, begin the butterfly stroke, diving from kneeling and
standing positions, front crawl and back crawl and the survival float.

Level IV - Participants are introduced to the breaststroke, elementary backstroke, open turns,
compact jump, diving and throwing assists and a variety of safety issues.

Water Babies Registration Form


30 minutes

Water Babies is a Mom & Me or Adult & Me class, designed for participants six months to
three years. It is required that an adult accompany the child. In this class, participants will get
comfortable being in the water, entering the water, blowing bubbles, underwater exploration and
floating on front and back (with or without assistance).

Private Swim Lessons

Private Lessons are conducted by the BBAC WSI instructors. Private Lessons will enroll 1-2
students per class. Fee per Student is $65 and consists of four 30 min Lessons. Instructors can be requested or will be assigned by BBAC management. Private Swim Lessons are dependent upon instructor availability.

Adult Swim Lessons

30 minutes

Learn to swim, exercise or learn new strokes.

 

Adult swim lessons can be done on an individual basis. To schedule a time, please call the Aquatic Center at 979-337-7250. Private lessons are $15.00 per half hour.

Brenham Swim Club

Brenham Swim Club is a year round United States Swimming (USS) club.

Groups: Silver - Ages 10 and under | Gold - Ages 11 and over

Spring/Fall Practice: Monday-Thursday: Silver group 4:15-5:00 | Gold Group: 4:45-6:15

Both Groups 4:15-5:15 Friday

Cost: Silver $50.00 per month | Gold: $60.00 per month

*2010-2011 USS registration $67.00 (required yearly for all swimmers)

2010-2011 practice will start August 30, 2010.

Monthly fees paid after the seventh of each month shall be subject to a $10.00 late fee.

 

Equipment: Swimmers will provide their own suit, goggles and cap

 

Meets: Swim meets will be offered approximately once a month. A meet schedule will be provided when available. Payments are due upon entry

Water Works

60 minutes

Tuesdays/Thursdays/Fridays 10:00am - 11:00am
Come 1, 2, or 3 days a week to best fit your schedule and fitness goals.

 

Cost: $4.00/visit - 5 punch passes sold for $20.00

 

Classes offer a wide range of moderate movements to improve range of motion, balance, and coordination while strengthening and toning the body. These classes are instructed by Jane Moorhead.

 

AquaZumba

45 minutes

Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays 6:00pm-6:45pm

 

Bring your suits as this class is in the water.

 

Cost: Free with pool pass or $5.00 w/o pass.

 

Classes start February 6, 2012

 

Must like Hip Hop music and be able to have fun!

Aquacize
